The Environmental Performance Guide for Building (EPGB) details the environmental issues that should be considered at all stages of a construction project from strategic planning through to design, construction and operation to ensure that the finished product is a high performance building. Integrating EPGB into our project delivery practices will help ensure buildings are functional, and healthier to work in as well as energy and resource efficient.

WHO WILL USE EPGB

As required by Premiers’ Memo 2003-2 High Environmental Performance for Buildings, Government agencies are now required to incorporate the requirements of the Environmental Performance Guide for Buildings in their Asset Strategies, and in subsequent project delivery briefs for buildings. This will establish high environmental performance outcomes and deliver lower operating costs for NSW Government buildings.

  • Government agencies to set project goals and specific environmental briefs for building projects
  • Project managers to set briefs and monitor design development
  • Designers to review the full scope of design strategies
  • Builders to review and manage environmental impacts
  • Facility managers to assess building performance
